Everybody has their favorite Mardi Gras throw; whether it's a custom designed shoe from Muses, a glittery Zulu coconut, or shiny doubloons. I've always been a fan of the signature beads that are thrown during the Rex parade that rolls on Mardi Gras day. I chose to design these classic beads as a symbol of my love for the city and for carnival. I call it "If I Ever Cease to Love". (Read about the song here.)
Mardi Gras has got to be one of my favorite holidays. It's always been a huge deal in my family and for years I've always looked forward to the king cake, marching bands, costumes, and fun.
This year is the first year since 2009 that I've been able to attend Carnival in New Orleans! (While I was at school in Savannah I was unable to make trips home because of the distance and amounts of work I had to do!)
I was so happy to have gotten this opportunity to work with such a wonderful company and to see my design produced and sold in New Orleans, a city I love with all my heart!
